Scripture: Colossians 2:1-15 Speaker: Ron Hamilton Date: October 2, 2011
The Apostle Paul writes to the young church in Colosse encouraging them concerning what God has done among them and calling them to keep it up. Like a father, Paul is concerned for this baby church and instructs them to steer clear of distractions that can lead them away from Jesus and His gospel. Today Ron Hamilton, a brother from the CCCC encourages Seven Mile Road in the same way.

Are We to Continue in Sin? Jul 17, 2011 Binu Abraham

Scripture: Romans 6:1-14 Speaker: Binu Abraham Date: July 17, 2011
Paul says that when the law was introduced, it resulted in increased sin. Yet God responded to increased sin not with increased punishment, rather greater grace. This response caused people to ask: "Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound?" Seem fairly logical, right? Paul didn't seem to think so. Learn why Paul doesn't believe that grace gives us a license to sin, but instead leads us to learn more about who we are in Jesus and live according to our true identity.

Scripture: 3 John 1:1-4 Speaker: Rob Burns Date: June 19, 2011
Perhaps you had a great father. Perhaps you had a lousy one. In communicating His love and relationship with humanity, God describes Himself as a Father. Why does He use this image and what does it mean for our we are to live? Today we consider God as the true and greater Father.

Scripture: Various Speaker: Ajay Thomas Date: April 24, 2011
The resurrection of Jesus guarantees believers many great benefits concerning our sin. Because Jesus rose from the dead, the penalty of sin has been removed. Because Jesus rose from the dead, the power of sin is being removed. And because Jesus rose from the dead, the presence of sin will be removed. Through His resurrection, Jesus has dealt with our sin. It is gone, it is going, and it will be gone forever!
Your Son, Your Only Son Feb 13, 2011 Ajay Thomas

Scripture: Genesis 22:1-14 Speaker: Ajay Thomas Date: February 13, 2011
The book of Genesis tells the story of Abraham, a father of faith in all three of the world's major monotheistic religions. God gave Abraham an incredible promise that included a great name, land, and offspring that would be as countless as the stars in the sky. There was just one problem. Abraham's wife was barren. Having a son was not just unlikely, it was impossible. Yet twenty five years after he was given the promise, Abraham had a son. Alas, everything was finally right for Abraham and Sarah. Only, it's then that God would give Abraham the greatest test and call on him to make the greatest sacrifice of his life. By the end of this test, we're given a good look into Abraham's heart; but more importantly, we're given a good look into God's as well.

Scripture: Various Speaker: Ajay Thomas Date: February 6, 2011
Phrases like "gospel-centered" and "gospel-driven" have become popular in our day. We are to rejoice in this. Yet if we are not careful, they can become buzzwords, empty religious jargon that mean anything and everything, till eventually they mean nothing. Today, we consider again what the gospel is and how it applies to not just becoming a Christian, but living as a Christian. Our conviction is that the gospel is not just the front door, but the path as well.
God is Light Jan 30, 2011 Binu Abraham

Scripture: 1 John 1:5-2:2 Speaker: Binu Abraham Date: January 30, 2011
How do you communicate something infinite with something finite? How can infinite God be understood, even in part, by finite man? This is one of the difficult tasks of the Scriptures. Therefore, one of the methods that the Bible employs is to use metaphors. In the Apostle John's first epistle, he describes God as light. Today we consider what it means to describe God as light. What does that mean about Him? What does that mean about us? And how do the two collide?
Remember God Jan 2, 2011 Seven Mile Road Church

Scripture: Deuteronomy 6:10-12 Speaker: Seven Mile Road Church Date: January 2, 2011
In Deuteronomy 6, Moses addresses the people of Israel who have been recipients of God's incredible grace, protection, and provision. Now the Lord promises that they are about to enter a good land, where they will dwell in cities that they did not build, and live in houses they did not construct, filled with things that they did not buy, drinking out of wells that they did not dig, and enjoying the fruit of trees and vineyards that they did not build. The people are about to inherit blessings that they have not earned or deserved. Yet these blessings come with a great warning. Do not forget God. When you are full from all that you have been given, do not forget the Giver. Do not forget His gospel, His salvation, and His deeds towards you. Today, we take some time as a church to remember the goodness of God over the past year.
The Arrival Dec 26, 2010 Dennis Mathew

Scripture: Luke 2:1-7 Speaker: Dennis Mathew Date: December 26, 2010
The birth of Jesus in the Scriptures looks vastly different than pictures made famous on holiday cards. The serene nativity scene in a quiet countryside appeals to us. However, the gospel writers describe an event that was anything but serene. A frightening angelic visit. A scandalous teenage pregnancy. An honorable but confused fiance. A less than ideal delivery room. A paranoid and psychotic king. A brutal massacre of babies. A city of weeping mothers. A baby named Jesus. Today we celebrate the good news that into our broken world was born a Savior.

Scripture: Proverbs 4:20-27 Speaker: Gino Curcuruto Date: September 26, 2010
Life is marked by a series of seemingly insignificant steps. Yet the cumulation of these steps reveals your character and the general direction and path of your life. We all walk a path and that path is either the way of wisdom of the way of foolishness. However the problem goes beyond the steps of our feet to the condition of our heart. We walk sinfully because we are sinful. Today, the Proverbs plead with us to guard our hearts and to have them transformed, ultimately through Jesus, so that we might walk wisely and well.
The Timeline of a Terrorist Sep 19, 2010 Ajay Thomas
Play Audio Audio Download Audio Download
Scripture: 1 Timothy 1:12-17 Speaker: Ajay Thomas Date: September 19, 2010

Osama Bin Laden appointed Ambassador of the United States. Impossible? Well, that’s the closest thing to the Jewish terrorist once named Saul becoming a Christian Apostle named Paul. Just mentioning the Gospel sends Paul on a theologically loaded, doxologically dripping tangent where he recounts Jesus’ profound impact on his life. To him, the Christ-hating, Christian killing, chief of sinners, was extended undeserved mercy and unlimited patience. And there’s only one response to such a reality – praise. Right theology always leads to exuberant doxology. If the Church is going to stay on track, the good news that Jesus came into the world to save sinners, even the chief of them, needs to be explicit not assumed, clear not confused, and loved not lost.

In Psalm 145, David writes an acrostic poem as a hymn of praise to God. The invitation of the psalm is to join in praising our Great God. As we begin a new year, various people from Seven Mile Road reflected on God's goodness over the past year and corporately, we added our voice to this chorus of praise.
Your Gospel Story Comforts Others Dec 20, 2009 Matthew Kruse

Scripture: 1 Thessalonians 3:6-13 Speaker: Matthew Kruse Date: December 20, 2009
The grace that God had poured out in Thessalonica was not an anonymous grace. Everyone had heard about it. Their story of repentance from sin, faith in Christ and endurance in affliction had exploded out from their little community like a thunderclap. Paul, Silas and Timothy… Macedonia and Achaia… ‘everyone everywhere’ received comfort and joy and strength because of what God had done in their city. This thing was bigger than their little church. And so Paul reminds them to hope in the gospel because its work can never be contained in the walls of a single congregation, but necessarily overflows from one life to another and one community to another, so that all can be comforted.
